Build units around their actual job, then connect the right trait, standard equipment, evolved exclusive gear and a repeatable test protocol.

Quick answer

Start with the unit's job, then choose trait and equipment

Crit carries often test Forsaken or Unbound with Shinigami Sword or crit gear. Raw-damage summons test Three Swords From Hell. Magical carries test Magic Book or Staff of Chaos. DoT units test Draconic and status-specific equipment. Supports prioritize Range, SPA and placement flexibility over a headline DPS trait.

Carry

Single-carry and boss builds

Use Unbound only when one placement covers the required lane and the opportunity cost is justified.

  • Alternative: Primordial for balanced Damage, SPA and Range.
  • Crit-capable carry: test Forsaken and Shinigami or Enhanced Katana.
  • Raw-damage carry: test Three Swords and a matching damage-type item.
Summon and copy

Build the stat that descendants inherit

A summon can make raw Damage more valuable than critical stats if the inherited object cannot use the same crit mechanic.

  • Verify whether the summon inherits current Damage, trait effects or equipment.
  • Record summon survival and contribution separately from owner DPS.
  • Toy Maker, Puppet and Shadow require kit-specific testing.
Status and support

DoT, debuff, control and team utility

Faster application, coverage and uptime can beat personal damage.

  • Draconic for Burn or Bleed when the actual DoT benefits.
  • Accursed Equipment for SPA and repeated debuff application.
  • Optics or Range equipment when coverage activates the support mechanic.
Test protocol

Publish a reproducible build result

A build claim becomes useful only when its conditions are visible.

  • Same stage, difficulty, upgrades, placements and team.
  • Change one variable at a time.
  • Track clear time, boss time, failures and utility separately.
  • Keep current client values in the DPS calculator; do not invent missing passive multipliers.

FAQ

Builds questions

What is the best Anime Expeditions build?

The best build is role-specific. A carry needs output, a debuffer needs uptime and coverage, a summon unit may prefer raw Damage, and a support should preserve the mechanic that improves the team.

Should every DPS unit use Unbound?

No. Unbound has a one-placement restriction and a very rare reported rate. Primordial, Forsaken, Draconic or a strong mid-tier roll can be better for the unit and account.

How do I test two builds?

Keep the stage, upgrades, placement, team and target constant. Change only the trait or equipment being compared, then record repeated clear time and failures.

What should I upgrade first?

Level and evolve a unit that fills a missing role, equip usable standard gear, then spend rare rerolls only after the build proves it belongs in your core team.
